Course skills are 8 skills that improve your writing skills to make them even better. While writing my exploratory essay I used 2 out of the 8 course skills, one of them being locating research sources. This skill in particular comes in handy doing research because the more websites you use for your topic, the more supporting points correlating, which will make your research stand out with reliable information. This helped me in many ways as I used many research finding websites including City College’s own library database, which really helped me out in finding information for my topic of Cyberbullying. The second course skill I used was composing texts that gave my reasons a good justification, which made my points stand. This skill is a good skillset to use as you can use summaries and break them down and make a point out of it, which then you can use in your essay. The essay could be lengthy, but straight to the flow and interesting with not a lot of information you don’t need included. Overall using course skills has benefited me and my writing skills in so many ways, as it gave me an opportunity to learn more about the topic I have been interested in, which is Cyberbullying.
